The ECL Annual Conference and General Assembly took place in Bratislava, Slovakia, on October 16 and 17, hosted by the League Against Cancer Slovakia.
The Patient Support Working Group met on October 14-15.
ECL Annual Meetings are open only to member cancer leagues and invited guests.
ECL Annual Conferences are scientific meetings related to new developments in cancer control. This year, the theme for the Annual Conference is "Cancer Prevention, Controversies, and New Therapy Approaches".
The meeting this year was opened by the President of the Slovak Republic, Andrej Kiska, who gave a warm and touching speech commending the work of the League Against Cancer Slovakia and other ECL member leagues.

At this very important conference, we discussed (4th Revision 2014) of the European Code Against Cancer with the authors of the Code from IARC and with the European Commmission; heard from member organisations on dissemination practices; learned about the increasingly important issues around Ageing and Ageism; gained an insight into stem cell based therapies for different cancers; and lastly had a very dyanamic discussion around e-cigarettes.
